Sermon Series "Summer by the Lake"


The "Summer by the Lake" sermon series centers around four miracles of Jesus recorded in Luke 8 that happened on or near the Sea of Galilee.  These miracles demonstrate the power of God over the impossible and teach us when we need a miracle to not be afraid, only have faith!  This sermon series may center around the Sea of Galilee but its focus is how to live by faith and trust God.  
 
Interesting Facts About the Sea of Galilee
--Although it's called the Sea of Galilee, it is really a lake about seven miles wide and twelve miles long located on the northeast side of Israel.  
--Another name for the Sea of Galilee is the Kinneret due to its violin-like shape. "Kinneret" means "violin" in Hebrew.    
--The Jordan River flows out of its southern end and empties into the Dead Sea sixty-five miles downstream. 
--It is the second-lowest lake in the world (after the Dead Sea), and the lowest fresh-water lake in the world sitting at 685 feet below sea level.

Sermon Series

7/30/23- Where is Your Faith?  Luke 8:22-25

As Jesus and his disciples cross the Sea of Galilee, a sudden storm descends upon them and threatens to sink their boat and drown them all.  What do we do when circumstances beyond our control threaten to destroy our life?

8/03/23- What is Your Name?  Luke 8:26-39

After crossing the Sea of Galilee, immediately Jesus is confronted by a demon-bound man who no one can control.  What will Jesus do when faced with the overwhelming demonic powers of hell?  What do we do when our struggle is not from without but within?

8/10/23- Who Touched Me? Luke 8:43-48

In all the miracles of Jesus, he either spoke a word or touched them--except for one miracle. What can we learn about faith from the woman with the issue of blood who reached out and touched Jesus and was healed?  When and how do we press through all obstacles and by faith receive our miracle from the Lord?   

8/17/23- Do Not Be Afraid, Only Believe!  Luke 8:41-42, 49-56

It seemed that Jairus had come to Jesus too late, he had just received the news his daughter had died.  The devastating news began to fuel his fear and hopelessness.  What do we do when fear begins to grip our hearts?  How do we respond when our world crumbles around us and all seems lost?  How do we fight fear with our faith?

  Today is Pastor Eric and Jaime's 15th wedding anniversary!   Eric and Jaime, along with Braden and Alexi, bring so much joy and blessings to the CWC family. CWC April Newsletter...EASTER!

A place for you to CONNECT, GROW, SERVE, AND SHARE Make plans to join us for Easter Sunday, April 20th !  Pastor Matt will be giving a special illustrated message and Easter goodie bags will be given out to all the children.  This is a great time to invite your friends and neighbors.   All the ladies are invited on April 12th at 3:00 for a time of fellowship as they sip & share conversations and the Word together.
