HARK: From the Mouth of Angels. A Series on God's Heavenly Messengers

A Series on God's Heavenly Messengers
Beginning Nov 19th @ CWC

Angels are everywhere in the Bible. They often show up in the natural as men who you might mistake for one, such as those who visited Abraham in Genesis eighteen. But in Isaiah six they appear as splendid creatures that defy imagination and strike fear in the heart of Isaiah. It is clear from the biblical record, God uses angels to play a vital role in fulfilling His will for mankind.

Having a biblical understanding of angels helps us to better understand one of the ways God has chosen to interact and exercise His rule and reign over His universe. He is big and wise enough to do it all Himself, but instead, He has decided to create and involve other created beings to perform His will.

We get a significant glimpse of the nature and purpose of angels from Psalm 103.

The LORD has established His throne in the heavens, And His sovereignty rules over all.  (20)  Bless the LORD, you His angels, Mighty in strength, who perform His word, Obeying the voice of His word!  (21)  Bless the LORD, all you His angels, You who serve Him, doing His will.  (22)  Bless the LORD, all you works of His, In all places of His dominion; Bless the LORD, my soul! Psa 103:19-22 NASB

From this Psalm we learn angels are powerful beings who obey the commands of God and serve Him, doing His will throughout His entire "dominion", or boundaries of His rule.

Starting on Sunday, November 19th, I will begin a sermon series "Hark: From the Mouth of Angels". The goal of this series is to deepen your worship and awe of God as you come to see how he rules and uses angels to perform His will. Beginning December 3, the series will focus on Christmas and share how "God became flesh and dwelt among us" from a uniquely angelic perspective.

You don't want to miss this!
