12 Steps for an Effective One Hour of Prayer
For the month of September we are asking the CWC fellowship to participate in a designated time of prayer and fasting. Prayer coupled with fasting has extraordinary spiritual power for breakthroughs and drawing us ever closer into the presence of the Lord. So we have designated every Tuesday as a day to fast and pray. Choose your fast according to your health and personal conviction. Please fast one meal, two meals, or all day. The time you would be eating and preparing meals devote to prayer.
Every Tuesday from noon to 1:00 PM you are encouraged to join a Prayer Zoom video conference meeting. Here is the link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/87668200168
You are also encouraged to join us in prayer in person every Wednesday at the church from 6:00-6:45.
Here are the prayer points for this week:
- Ask God to bring deep conviction of sin, spiritual brokenness, a holy fear of God, and genuine repentance among His people.
Pray for God to bestow spiritual hunger in His people and draw them to fervent prayer.
Pray for God to fill His people with a passion to see people come to faith in Jesus.
To aid in your prayer time, the following is a 12 Step Prayer Guide for you to follow.
DIRECTIONS: Use this chart as a guide to direct your prayer time. You may need to build up to one hour so instead of five minutes per station, spend 2-3 minutes and develop your discipline of prayer. You can also break it into chunks: 15 minutes before breakfast, before lunch, before dinner, and before bed. You may also spend more time in one area than another, which is ok. This is a guide, not a strict rule to follow.
6-10 WAIT ON THE LORD: Think about the hour before you and the things you want the Lord to do in your life.
(Ps 27:14; 46:10)
11-15 CONFESSION: Ask the Holy Spirit to show you anything in your life that might be displeasing to Him. Confess and repent.
(Ps 51:1-19; 1 John 1:9)
16-20 SCRIPTURE PRAYING: Develop actual prayers based on the thoughts and phrases in a verse or verses of Scripture.
21-25 WATCHING: What do you see the Holy Spirit showing you in your life, the life of your church, your city, your nation or in the world? (Col 4:2)
26-30 INTERCESSION: Specific prayer on behalf of others. Make a list. Develop a plan. Declare God’s promises! (1 Tim 2:1-2)
31-35 REQUESTS: Specific prayer for your personal needs. Make a list. Ask God to examine your personal motives. Find a Scripture to stand on. (Phil 4:6)
36-40 THANKSGIVING: Give thanks to the Lord for His blessings to you, His spiritual blessings, and thanks for who He is (His character, qualities, and acts). (1 Thes 5:18)
41-45 SINGING & REFLECTION: Collect your favorite choruses and hymns and worship the Lord. (Ps 100:1-2)
46-50 MEDITATION: Ask the Lord to speak to you and keep a paper and pen handy, ready to record His thoughts as He speaks to you. (Josh 1:8)
51-55 LISTENING: Spend time merging the things you have read, prayed, given thanks, sung, and see how the Lord brings them all together. (Eccl 5:2)
56-60 WORSHIP: End strong! Focus your praise on God’s greatness! Declare His glory over your life today. (His manifested PRESENCE, POWER, GOODNESS). (Rev 12:13)
